Manager Weikel was afraid of Purdue and employed the famous Keiffer to knock the Loogooteeites out of the box. Of course lie failed as Weikel -might have expected. Neither Purdue nor Keiffer (nor Sisson) can hand anything to the Loogootee boys wlien they play ball with pep and confidence. Smith and Garrett gave splendid evidenceof theiir effective work Sunday when they touched the pill for all thatwas needed. Williams pitched a strong game and McAtee caught in ■his usual form. Lockyear caught for Evansville.* • *Keeping up its record of failure the Washington Greys caught another defeat at the -hands of Princeton last Sunday. The score was 3 to 1. Princeton has the goat of the Washington boys just like Washington had Loogootee’s goat earlier in the season, and they know what it means by this time. Sisson has lost ihis arm and eye just as theTribune predicted. He began theeason with all the promise that a boy could have, but he was too ambitious and pitched too much.Others have fallen by the waysideby ‘the overwork route in the ear-ly part of their usefulness just as Sisson. You will never hear of thisyoung man as a leading -ball pitcher.Like Asa Williams, he will do fairlygood from this on, hut his chancesfor the front were spoiled this summer. Too bad.• • •Hereafter when Washington people want to see a first class game they will have to come to Loogootee as they did last year.
