Hut what is there about a heart that makes color? Well, look a Bernard Shaw. And since this it a sport page, look at the House ol David. Right now the House oi David monicker is borne by at least two ball clubs, a jazz banc and a wrestler. Yeah, a House ot David wrestler. Nobody know? for sure whether any of the boys ever saw Benton Harbor, Mien , where the colony used to be.That’s till right, too. One Sunday, they brought the Mahatma tiandhi Nudists to town. The fellows didn’t bring much in the way of clothing and less m the wav of ability. They did bring some bats and several hundred people into the hall park. The Nudists had just as well left the hats at home, and the several hundred people wished they’d stayed at home. You see, the Nudists couldn’t plav much baseball. All they had was an idea, and it wasn’t what you’d call a very good one.But you can't go wrong on these House of David ball clubs. They’ve got something besides light poles. Bill Doak gloves. Babe Didrikson and a batch of Texas mules. They just happen to have a baker’s dozen or so of real bad players back of all that shiub-bery. Ray Doan runs the two House of David ball clubs and it s Ray’s idea that you could have a right smart ball club on tout and still have the customers stay away in droves. I hat aceoun.s for all the lace trimmings.Vnvhou, the eastern division of the House of David is coming here to plav the Millanl All-Stars a match game of baseball. In view of all the shouting about tin* ch.ii tiling Miss Didrikson, the donkey and pepper games, et cetera, one might think the baseball game was largely incidental. But it will be a game and one worth watching. If Lefty Irvin takes the mound the bearded hoys aren’t going to carry off a victory without a tight. The manager of this House of David team (it seems that Dave had two houses after all) is Earl Smith He is the famous “Oil” who played with about half the National league clubs as a catcher not so nianv’moons ago. Oil' got into several world's series and al-wavs was a colorful figure. Then, there is a VVavtula. who is probably Eddie, who played a number of years in the Mississippi Valley, including a season with Ottumwa. In those days, Eddie was a pitcher, and now he's an outfielder. But it’s all under one tent. BaiM* will pitch, the pepper game will he run off, the burro* will take the field at the conclusion of the main go, and the Millard Vll-Stars will try to take a fall out of the fellows with the beards.
