Rushford Expects Big Crowds At Festival Thursday, FridayWinona, La Crosse to Send Bands; Colored, Bearded Teams Play.Rushford, linn -(Special to T s Republican-Herald)— Rushford will show the best samples of a corn crop it is proud cf Thursday and Friday in a corn festival to which residents of a wide area have been invited, and a bit crowd is expected for the two-day celebration.For the entertainment of its visitors the festival committee, headed by Elvin Humble, has arranged a comic parade at 10:30 a. m, Thursday, a baseball gome between two colored nines Thursday afternoon and a concert by the Winona Municipal band Thursday *vening. The Winona Association of Commerce will send the band,Another ball game will start the Friday morning nojram, with Harmony and Rushford teams settling an old rivalry. For the Friday afternoon sports program the committee has booked two outstanding baseball teams, the whiskered House of David club and the Kansas City Monarchs, a colored club good enough to beat big league teams. These teams will play at Winona Wednesday evening, and are expected to draw a record crowd there.• Mumm’s band and entertainers from La Crosse will furnish the highlight of Friday evening's program. La Crosse wholesale and retail merchants are sending the entertainers.There will be fireworks displays each evening and dances.The com exhibit will .be in the Eggen garage, and all entries must be in by Thursday noon. A big list of prizes has been prepared, and outstanding cars of com in any class are sought by the committee.
