M. at Athletic Park.Grover Cleveland Alexander and his House of David baseball team will clash with the powerful Kansas City Monarchs at Athletic park Wednesday at 4:30 p. m. in the leading baseball attraction of the season here to date.Alexander is scheduled to hurl for an inning or two against the Negroes as he does in every game. The former star of the St. Louis Cardinalsstill has plenty of stuff on the ball.♦The House of David team which will play here is the best of the^hree bearded aggregations on the road, including the one with whom Babe Didrikson is playing which shut out the La Crosse Troubadours 7 to 0 Sunday night. The Davids won several exhibition games from major league clu^s this spring. *However, the Davids will be on the short end of the odds when they tangle with the Monarchs here as the Kansas City colored team has the reputation of being the strongest traveling team on the road.J. L, Wilkinson, owner of the club, has kept his team practically intact for the last eight years, mainly because he had assembled the best aggregation of colored players in the country when the Monarchs twice won the national colored league championship.Have Great Infield. The Monarchs will present to the fans here one of the greatest infields in baseball. With Giles at first, Mothell at second, Allen at short and Joseph at third, the club has an infield that have been playing league ball together for eight years. The double play combination of Alien and Mothell represents the two fastest throwing and fielding men in the National Colored league.Frank Duncan and Ted Young, catchers, have both been with the club for eight seasons. Ted Young for two seasons was leading hitter of the league. Lefty Beverly and Chet Brewer are two of the outstanding pitchers in the country today. Both have pitched winning ball against the Major League All Stars each fall in Kansas City. Andy Cooper, another southpaw, and Slim Thompson help make up the pitching staff. In the outfield Eddie Dwight will be in center and is the fastest base runner on^the club. Bullet Rogan, formerly a great pitcher, is now playing in the outfield.Ail Patsy Knopick, promoter of the game, ia asking for is a break in the weather. Knopick believes that because of the dearth of good baseball in Winona this summer a large crowd will turn out for one of the best exhibitions to be offered in Winona for some time. One of Series. The game herr is part of a series played between the two clubs which started two years ago and drew 20,-000 persons for four games in Winnipeg.Part of the attraction is the pepper ball of the Davids and the clowning and chatter of the colored players, who always entertain regardless of the score of the ball game.ThreeMatclPin LeSchaffer*LeiclFiCITY LIWinona Milk Schaffer Cle* Lelcht Press Hurry Rack ]Cities ServlciHellcman’* .
