Baldwin never misses a concert of this kind and oftentimes during the winter makes four and five special trips to New* York to attend the Metropolitan opera houae festivities. Baldwin haB an appreciation or the classical music far beyond that of any man in the ring, and tar beyond that of 90 per cent of the ordinary music lovers. He has been attending concerts for years, knows every one of the gret operas, can play them and sing them.Some years ago Baldwin was hilled to light in a star bout in Boston. He was to get $1,000 as his share of the proceed*. A few day* before the fight wee to be staged Baldwin dropped around to the promoter and asked that the match be cancelled. My reason is that T want to attend an operatic performance which is to be put on here the same night as the light. said Bald-! win. The promoter refused to let i Baldwin withdraw and the matter', was finally adjusted by shifting the! time for the Baldwin bout from 10 j p. m, to 11:16 p. m. which gave Baldwin time enough to attend the opera and get back to the ar'dua and into his ring togs.
