(CP) -Fred Page of Vancouver, president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, said Fri- j day the CAHA• recognizes the! suspension ' of Carl Brewer by j Toronto Maple Leafs.On his way home from the International ,Ice Hockey Federation^ annual meeting in Europe, Page said two CAHA annual meetings .have voted toextend the association's agreement with the National Hockey League which includes terms of reinstatement of former professional players. \Brewer; a former NHL allstar defence man who was suspended when he left the Maple Leafs a year ago, has asked for reinstatement as an amateur in order to represent Canada in international competition.-'“We are pleased Mr. Brewer has indicated his wish la.join Canada’s national hockey team/'; page said. “However, his reinstatement at present is a personal matter between himself, his professional team and the National Hockey League.”Page said the CAHA has arranged clearance with the 1IHF for the 27-year-old defenceman to play for Canada if be becomes available.
