Tiles DropGame ByMarginThe Arketex Tiles closed theirseason yesterday at the stadiunby losing a hectic 7-6 ball game tothe Sullivan Merchants.Yesterday’s game was in directcontrast to the previous meetingbetween the two clubs in that itwas a hitter’s game after the seventh inning.Previous to the seventh both Harry Taylor and Larry Rodabaughhad worked beautiful games towatch. Each pitcher had allowedonly three hits, with the Tile hits being of the infield variety and two of the Sullivan hits being scratches.Then in the seventh Sullivan ended the pitchers’ battle suddenly.Bill Bolk got an infield hit, White struck out for the second out, but | xwi Clift worked Taylor for a walk.Then Rodabaugh drove in the first run with a solid hit to center. Mc-Phail’s solid drive got by Butler for three bases with Clift and Rodabaugh scoring.The Tiles came back with twoatfrto:: on Taylor’s life on an error, But-| ler’s drive into center for a base, and a base hit by Eddie Pearce.Sullivan made it 5-2 in the eighth j by scoringon Kaiser’s hit, an error,: and hits by Taylor and White. Dar-1 rell Craig saved one run with a perfect throw to home on Taylor’s hit.The Tiles were not to be denied and made it 5-4 in the last of the eighth on Anderson’s double, an infield error, and hits by Butler and Craig.Sullivan added two more in the;rtoiyintop of the ninth and were ready to coast in. The Tiles thought about it and began a rally that sent two a 4;v-eruns in and left the tying runs on out^base. Ray Bussing and Harry Taylor were the hitters in the ninth.If an individual player were to be picked as outstanding it would have to be Eddie Pearce of theTiles.
