Courtney to See Cooneys and Kansas City Monarchs PlayMUM — ■ |,|| ■ | J J|“Thomas Courtney Day” will be celebrated Sunday afternoon at St. Eita field, 63rd st. and Claremont ave. when Buck Weaver’s Cooneys meet the Kansas City Monarchs, crack Negro team, in the first game of a double-header scheduled for that day.The Cooneys and the Monarchs will clash again under flood lights at 8 o’clock in the second game of the twin bill.Senator Courtney, Democratic candidate lor state’s attorney, will pitch the first ball in the afternoon encounter, which is expected to be attended by hundreds of Southtown Democrats.The Kansas City aggregation will come to Southtown with an enviable record behind it, Thus far this season the Monarchs have played in 67 tilts and have lost but five of them, establishing a percentage mark of ,942.The afternoon tilt will begin at 2:30 o’clock, with Brosius slated for mound duty for the Cooneys,The evening game will be the first conflict staged under floodlights this season.Prep GamesThe following high school games will be played this weekend:Today—Hyde Park ys. Marshall at Mills stadium.Tomorrow—Bowen at Evanston, Englewood' vs, Fenger at Normal park, Lindblom vs. LaSalle at LaSalle, III., and Lindblom vs. Calumet at White City.These games are not regularly scheduled league tilts and cio not count in the official standings.Children want bread.
