Start for the run of 119 miles was made from the Savoy hotel in Aberdeen to Centralia and return, at 10: HO a. m., and the leading machines were back in a little over three hours.Several machines broke down, some sidestepped the road and went out of commission, but no accidents occurred to mar the pleasure of the run. The weather was all that could be asked, and the riders all enjoyed the spin.Wallace Pratch started out with a fair chance to win, but bad luck seemed to ride with him. He got on a wrong street in Montesano, and was arrested and fined 15, and at Oakville, his cylinder blew out, which put him out of the race.E. M. Frederickson ran into a barb wire fence, above Oakville, and was thrown under his machine. He escaped with a slight burn and a few bruises, and the cycle was put out of commission.Aubrey archer had a cinch on first place but for his supply of gasoline gave out between Elm a and Montesano on the return trip. He secured the fluid from a passing automobile, but not before Lobdell had passed him, giving the latter a lead he held to tne finish, coming to the home plate one-half minute ahead of Archer. As to mishaps, honors were easy between Archer and Lobdell. The former obtained his lead coming out of Centralia when I^obdell took a fall, and would in all liklihood have held to the end but for his fuel supply giving out.Out of the 28 machines entered, the following made the run in less than four hours:Hours MinutesLobdell ................3 13%Archer ................. 3 14Barnes ...............3 21Vail ................... 3 23%Kimberg ............... 3 37Larson ................ 3 46%Brinkley ............... 3 57
