Benton Harbor's (Mich.) nomadic House of David baseball team, beards,girl and all, came, saw and conquered the St. Louis Cardinals. 8 to 6, Tuesday night at Sportsman’s park, before a crowd of 10,000 fans. Jackie Mitchell, only feminine hurler in captivity, so far as men’s baseball is concerned, pitched one inning and retired without much damage. She showed a fair curve, not much speed, but had ali the necessary poise. The be-whiskered baseball players kept crowd amused with their rapid-fire “pepper” game, tossing and re-triqYi^iJ the from all angles. Itthat Miss Mitchell, the only woman to hold a professional baseball .contract, receive $1000 a month, whether she earns it or not.
