Chuck and Jack Burrell Jr., representing the Southern California Tuna Club, are back in Long Beach afterhaving won for their organization the championship at the International Sailfish Toura-ment off Panama.Their victory won for the club the second leg on the- international trophy, A win in l’£M8 at Miami would bring the trophy to Bong Beach permanently.Dr. Chuck and Burrell won with 402% points with the Pacific Sailfish Club of Panama in second place with 396 points.Other clubs that pkiaed Avere the following:Panama Fishing Club, 393; Rod and Reel Club of Mexico, 382; Sailfish ancl Tarpon Club of Mexico, 376; Acapulso Fishing Club, 125; Three-Six-Minus Club of Glendale, Calif., 109.The Southern California Tuna Club won its first leg in the-tournament. last yeEir at Acapulco.Dr. Chuck reported that several world records were set In the tournament at Panama. The • British minister to Panama caught a 25S-pound black marlin on light tackle for a record; Gene Beilharz of Glendale took a sail-fish weighing 109 pounds, on three-thread; another angler took a 66%-pound wahoo . on nine-thread line; Mrs. Knapp took a 129-pound sailfish on nine-thread for a new women’s record, andMrs. Dean of Mexico City caughta 52-pound wahoo on nine-thread.
