CHESTER STARS MEET BLACK SOXLocal Rivals Clash Under Arc Lights Tomorrow Night; Eberts Will PlayChester baseball fans will get an opportunity to witness the second night game of the season and also the last glimpse of the Chester All Stars for the 1934 season when that club squares off with the Baltimore Black Sox tomorrow night. The affair will be staged at the Colored Elks field at the foot of Edwards street In the West End.'he game under the arc lights isstill a novelty to the baseball lovingpublic of this vicinity. They glimpsed the first one of the season more than a week ago—and liked it. Three thousand of the most enthusiastic of our citizenry were out to watch the Sox administer a tidy lacing to the House of David nine.The show tomorrow night will go on at 8.30 p. m. The gates will open at 7.30 p. m. Last week the game was held up to allow the long stream of fans outside a chance to get in. The iarge crowd expected for this second night game will be handled in much faster fashion and the congestion will be relieved by additional entrances.Lefty Vann, who has made the Chester All Stars one of the most colorful and populnr attractions ever to play ball in this city, will have the strongest lineup possible available for this important clash. Vann's team has established some kind of a record for drawing crowds as they have never played before less than 3000 at anytime this season and twice have drawn better than ,5000.Vann is bringing a pair of new ball players to Lhis city in order to subdue the Black Sox. One of the two is an old Chester favorite named Jimmy Eberts. This star semi-pro performer is considered the fastest ball player In Philadelphia . and vicinity. He played with the oid Chester Club managed by Bill Whitman that flovishcd at Smcriley Fickl a decade ago. 4Jimmy was only a youngster when he played with the Whitman nine. He is as fast as ever and his batting eye has increased In efficiency. A number oX Chester fans considered staging a demonstration to welcome back Eberts to this city. Although it has been a long time since he played here Jimmy is no stranger to these parts as he lives out in Norwood. Vann has secured a real ace-ln-thc-hoie to twirl for his chib. Norman Hibbs. considered the leading arc light pitcher of Philadelphia, will be on the mound for the Chester nine. Hibbs pitches for Wcntz-Olncy In the Philadelphia League and holds the strikeout record in that loop having fanned 14 in one game. He is also one of the league's three leading twirlers in the won and last column.Ip. reserve Vann will have that ..plcndid young Delrl hurler, Tommy Robertshaw. Tommy has unusual success against the Negro teams. The catching department will be taken over by Jack McDaniel. Con-golcum and Pnsson receiver. Doc I Farrell has returned to school.Vann will be at first base. Billy Narleski at second. Lex Gillespie at j short. Bill Mailland at third, Eberts in left.
