Indians Win Opener In Dunlap FridayNight By 26-21The Wyoming Indians found the going rough in Dunlap last Friday night as they opened their 1974 football season with a 2G-21 win over the Eagles. They had to stage a come back after seeing Co-Captain Jim Sniff take the opening kickoff back 86 yards for a touchdown with Johnson placekicking the extra point.However, li took the Indians just a minute nnd a half to take a lead in the ball game which they never relinquished, although they were never really comfortably in front.Steve Chesser went five yards through center for the Indians first touchdown. A long pass from O’Neill to Frisby gave the Indians a first down on the 18. They gained another firt down on the five, from which point they scored. T itle carried tht ball into the end zone fur the tryafter and the Indians leu 8-7.After a pass from O’Neill to Chesser gave the Indians a first down on the one foot line late in the initia: period, O’Neill carried it in from there. The try for two points failed.The Indians scored their third touchdown after 45 seconds had beenplayed in the second period. It came | on a 33 yard pass from O’Neill to Tuttle. A pass attempt for the two| points failed and the score stood at20-7.Late in the period Dunlap misseda good chance to come back when a pass into the end zone was dropped by a player who was all alone.With three minutes left in the thira period a 13 yard run by Tuttle climaxed another Indian drive. Once again the two point attempt failed.The Eagles got back into the bah game late in the period when Sniff went around end for 26 yards and a j score. The kick for the extra point j was good.The final score of the game came with four and a half minutes played. This time Sniff went around end j for 23 yards and the score. Johnsons kick for the extra point was good and the final score stood at 26-21.The Indians, boasting a team of j veterans from last season, looked good at times but were guilty of a lot of mistakes that could have been costly.This Friday night they will fac the Walnut Blue Raiders on the Wyoming field. The Raiders are rated to be one of the “coming teams this season and put up a valient battle before losing to Toulon 14-6.
