Bearkiltens in 7th grade win, 28-24Ruston Junior High’s seventh grade football team opened its 1992 season with a 28-24 victory over Monroe’s Jefferson Junior High at James Stadium Tuesday nightThe win followed the team’s 22-0 romp over Monroe’s Ouachita Junior High in jamboree action last week.Duane Harris led the seventh grader’s scoring with touchdown runs of five yards each.Corey Stinson had a 10-yard TD run and James Smith recovered a fumble and returned it 60 yards for a score.Stinson also had a pair of two-point conversions.The entire offensive, defensive and special teams played well for the winners, reported head coach Willie Young and his assistants.A defensive struggle dominated the eighth grade game.Head coach Randy Hay said that “our entire offensive and defensive units, plus the special teams, played well.”RJH's “B” team plays host to Calhoun’s “A” squad tonight at 6:00 at Janies Stadium.
