As soon as one season ends, he starts planning for the next.:enMr.407herdierKeith Harshbarger at Crosby High School started having thoughts of the 1969 season before the ’68 campaign ended. He had ideas of Galena Park Fidelity Manor and how tough they would be, and he had all kinds of ideas about how to stop them.Fidelity had gone 7-2-1 to win the district title in 1968, and Harshbarger wanted to make sure the tables were turned in the Crosby direction for 1969.One thing Harshbarger had going for him was that Fidelity would be the team to beat. The other schools would be gunning for them, because they were the returning champs and they had the material to repeat. So now Harshbarger and his Crosby Buffaloes will be the team to beat in the 21-2A race this year, along with AnahuacTwo months ago the Galena Park School District decided to integrate with Fidelity Manor, and now the Fidelity Manor High School, along with its football team, is no more.Harshbarger won’t have very many holdovers from last year’s squad that posted a very fine 8-1 record. But he will have the basis for a fine team, and if a few replacements live-up to their pre-season hopes, things in Crosby won’t be as disappointing as last year.It was last year that the Buffaloes posted a better record (8-1-1) that the district winners, and even beat the -Fidelity, 12-6, in the regular season game.Bui it was all tied up at the end of the year and Fidelity took the 21-2A banner to the slate playoffs leaving Crosby behind to think about the coining year.pliment Anderson and the other halfback, probably 135-pound Jimmy Peska.Anderson and Peska have the breakaway speed while AUcbcry is a solid performer who can gel Ihe two or three years when needed.Tackle Johnny Parker will play a big role in Ihe line along with Elliott. The pair will be aided by center Grant Harshbarger, who knows how to hit; guard Skipper Shinn; tackle David Brown, and end Danny Fleming. Also at an end post will be Mike Walker, who was a big pari of the 1968 campaign for Harshbarger. The Crosby squad will not be a big team, so Harshbarger will be counting on the fine variety of speed his Buffaloes possess in Ihe line. There are 12 lettermen back from last year, and Atteberry at 185 is the biggest of the lotSo no matter what Harshbarger and his staff had come up with in the way of downing Fidelity, they should have the material to down someone else, now that Fidelity is out of the picture.M.TridaTrafouBrifreLeading the Crosby parade of talent will be halfback Larry Anderson and tackle Wayne Elliott, both mainstays in last I year’s play.Elliott is a head-hunter wh likes to hit and isn’t easily pushed around, and Anderson just may be the threat the Buffaloes need.Anderson was a quarterback last year, but the 160-pound senior should be working out of the halfback slot tins year if senior quarterback Buddy Janacek comes through.Janacek weighs around 145, but has gained valuable experience in the last two years and Harshbarger thinks he can lead the Buffaloes through his campaign. Also in the backfield will be fullback Greg Allebcry, a 185-pound senior who will com-JOIN THE BOOSTERSSUPPORTcaosrr high school.'69BUFFALOES//• /
