Grid Outlook Is Bright For WinolaTwenty-eight Winola High School, gridders turned out for practice this fall under football coach Leo Traister and arc preparing for their eight-game schedule which begins with a home game withRoosevelt Military Academy, Sept. 18.Ten of the grid aspirants art returning lettermen and, barring injuries, the Jets should give a good account of themselves. Word from Coach Traister has it that the boys show a surprising amount of enthusiasm, which is always • good sign.Traister is receiving assistance from Bill King, who is working out with the line, and Tom Williams, ias?»stant varsity coach.The ten returning lettermen are Tad Yarde, Tom Frakes, Dick Cooper, Jim Meyer, Mandfl En-strom, Ken Brown, Don Paul, Dick Smith, John Anderson and jCletus Moseley.This is only the second year that Winola, a member # of the Corn-belt Conference, has engaged in : the gridiron sport but the boys |seem to really take to it. Six of their eight games scheduled are conference affairs.Other varsity candidates are juniors Roger Peterson, Dick Whitington, Tom Thompson, John Thompson, Dick Fowlers and Dean Minteer.
