sneenan s hots slated For Duffy BillJack Sheehan’s Minor league All-Stars and the Calumet Hopefuls will headline Sunday’s twin bill with the Duffy Florals at Shewbridge field, 74th and Aberdeen sts., beginning I at 1:3Q o’clock in the afternoon. ISheehan, who once played with Cincinnati and now scoutfor the New York Yankees, will direct the play of the All-Stars and the Hopefuls against the Florals. All of his players are Chicago bred lads and the Hopefuls, a group of youths picked for minor league teams of next year, were selected from the strong Cal-uinefc region league.All-Star Lineup. The lineup of the All-Stars will include Bruno Shields, pitcher; Quinto Valentino, second baseman, and First Baseman Art Goetz, who played with Macon, Ga., a Cincinnati farm; Third Baseman Willie Burick of Rogers, Ark.; Bill Holm, catcher, of Binghamton, N.Y.; Shortstop A1 Baker of Akron and Slim DeLion of Joplin, Mo. These latter clubs are New York Yankee farms. The Duffy Florals, who won two out of three games played over the holidays, will pitch Bud Drantz and Mike Yaros against Sheehan’s teams, Drantz pitched a beautiful game last Sunday to beat Midlothian, 3 to 2. He is the property of the Pittsburgh Pirates and will report to their Hutchinson farm next year.Duffy Moundsmen. The ever-reliable Yaros, who turned back the Memphis Red Sox on Labor day, will probably hurl against the Minor League All-Stars, with Drantz assigned to pitch against the Hopefuls. Yaros, in the opinion of many baseball men, is the best right handed pitcher in Chicago. He has h^d several offers to work out with big league teams, but is reluctant to forsake a lucrative private job for the uncertainty of a major league career. The Duffys also have available Dutch Kohlenberg, who allowed the Memphis Red Sox only three hits going into the ninth inning on Labor day, only to lose, 4 to 2, when the Florals’ right fielder misjudged a line drive which went for a triple, and Roy Drasites, the southpaw from Pullman, who, when his control is right, is practically unbeatable in semipro circles.POLICE TO MEET WOLVERINE TENSoftball Outfits to Clash Sundayat Hamilton ParkSunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock A Century of Progress Police association team will meet the Wolverines, champs of South Haven.
