Liquor License Revoked At Three Rivers StadiumHARRISBURG, Pa. (UPI) — The liquor license of the b e e r concessionaire at Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium has been revoked, a Liquor Con trol Board (1X3) official said Wednesday.Alex Jaffurs, chief counsel for the I£B, said Recreational Services Inc. was found guilty of selling to minors. He said the beer also was being sold more than one hour before the start of the game. The concessionaire has 20 days to appeal the LCB decision to Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.“I expect that an appeal will be filed, which will allow them to continue operating at least until the end of the baseball season,” Jaffurs said. The I £B decided to revoke the license, effective Sept. 29, during a closed - door session. The decision followed hearings in Pittsburgh.“The primary reason was the sale to minors,” Jaffurs said. “There were several cases of sales to 16, 17 and 18-year-olds. It was to such an extent that the license had to be revoked.”One of the charges stemmed from the death of Joseph Farrell, 17, of McKeesport, who fell from a ramp at the stadium on opening day of the Pittsburgh Pirates season. Classmates testified he purchased beer during the game.If the concessionaire loses his appeal, the license can be transferred to another firm.
