Chiefs, Jels'Even/ Leafs Oust AtlantaBy THE ASSOCIATED PRESSThe Syracuse Chiefs have squared their International League playoff series with {.he pennant winning Columbus Jets' but the Toronto Maple Leafs swept their series with Atlanta and eliminated the Crackers from the playoffs.In Monday’s games, Syracuse won a 12-inning marathon from Columbus 6-5 on a walk with the bases loaded and Toronto outsed Atlanta 4-3 on a ninth-inning homer.Bill Tuttle’s two-run single tied the score for Syracuse in the ninth and the Chiefs went on to win in the 12th when Ed Ho-baugh walked Bob Lipski with the bases loaded to force* in the winning run.Hobaugh entered the game with two on and one out in relief of Doc Ellis and wild pitched the runners along before walking Jackie Moore* to load the bases and set the stage for the tic-breaker.Russ Gibson's homer with two out in the ninth pulled Toronto past Atlanta. Tpronto had tied the score in the eighth on Mike Ryan’s two-run home run. The other Toronto run scored on Bill Harrell’s fifth - inning home.Atlanta scored once in the first, once in the third on Bubba Phillip’s homer and again in the fourth when Jim Beauchamp homcred. The loss eliminated Atlanta, which lost four straight in the playoffs.
