The Yucaipa Thunderbird Boost er club is swinging into high gear for the coming sports season with the launching of its business mem bership drive tomorrow morning in Yucaipa and Calimesa. Dick Ronda, president of the organization which boosts Yucai pa high school sports stated “‘the support of the business people is very important to the success of the club and the morale of the school teams.” The Booster club project for the year is to obtain glass backboard for the VHS gymnasium. Last year the club purchased a block ing sled for the football team. Breakfasts will be held for all sports this year. During football season the members will meet every Friday morning, before the evening games. Five trophies will be given to football players this year. They are: best offensive and defensive back, best offensive and defensive lineman and captain. “With some rosy prospects for some successful seasons in all our sports and with enthusiasm run ning high on the booster board it is hoped all parents and busi ness people will join with us and make this an outstanding year, President Ronda stated. New Booster officers and chair men for the year are: Dick Ron da, president; Ben Cripe, vice president; Dick Cook, treasurer; Vera Thiem, secretary. Chairmen, Johnny Venable; Awards and Dads Nights, Joyce Cripe; general banquet, Pat Hudec; football, Jim Holden; membership, Ben Cripe; breakfasts, Fred Hare; speakers, Gertrude Sowers; publicity,Bill Veliquette, Frank Sowers and Don Brown.
