Recruiting Should Pay OffTHE SOPHOMORE RECRUITING program at Mansfield Senior High School could easily pay off in a return to eminence for Tyger football. . . . Bengal coaches were frank-i ly worried at the slim turnout of sophomores this fall. . . .! A new program had gone into effect where the sophs would1 be a separate unit with their own dressing facilities and their own coaches. . . . This meant, too, these first-year boys would not be used as cannon fodder for the more mature : varsity players. . . . Co-coaches Dan McBride and Don Kehlen decided to do something about it when the sopho-: more squad roster showed only 36 names. . . . They felt many more boys at Senior High should receive the bene-i fits football can give developing youngsters. . . . Friday they!' talked to likely looking student-athletes and another 291-sophomores decided to try for places on the Tyger Cub team.': . . . Some additional boys will probably be “recruited” this!1 week. .. . The 1958 Tyger squad shapes up as a pretty good!’ one. . . . The defensive line has enough size, experience! and talent to make the opposition think twice before trying , to run through it. . . .
