McGinnis placed fifth w ith a time of 14:46, while Mosher finished ninth (16:20) ami Plutz took 10th (16:33).Another cross country rookie, Scott Sullivan, placed second in the varsity boys division with a time of 17:11, which was seven seconds off the first place pace.“Wfe felt good/I£ was an opportunity to get into another meet before the big meets,” Coach Jeity B rien said. “We were very pleased with our younger runners. They are coming through for us. They’ll use it for the future. It’ll be a stepping stoije for the^gger meets.”Also finishing in the top 10 for the girls were Karla Schuessler, who finished second with a 14:05 mark, and Zoe Stewart, who recorded third with a 14:16 time. Junior Cathy McGinnis captured fourth with a clip of 14:46. Leah Menozzi missed the top' 10 with an 11th place finish with a time of 16:39.The Ghosts claimed the title in the girls class .with 23 points, while the remaining three teams were incomplete. The boy ©hosts took third with 48 points, behind Kimberly’s 42 and Ashwaubenon, which had 43.A1 Feyen cruised to a seventh-place finish with a time of 17:53, while Tim Kruse rounded out the top 10 with an 18:08 clip.Other Kaukauna finishers in the boys division were Archie Barribeau in 13th with an 18:36 time, Wade Thorson’s 16th place time of 18:41 and Graham Banks* 18:43 time for 17th. Chad Huss wrapped up the Ghost runners with 19th with a time of 19:15.“We knew Kimberly was very close to us and we weren’t surprised that Kimberly won,” Brien said. “A few more kids passing and a few points here and there the score could have been switched. A little extra effort on the course could have made the difference.# “Scott Sullivan is learning about the strategy and it’s a learning experience for him. Wade Thorson ran a real gutsy race. It was his first chance for him to run on our varsity.”In junior varsity boys action, Kaukauna topped Ashwaubenon by a 20-40 margin.Scott VandenHeuvel paced the pack with a 19:35 time, while Kevin Bruhn followed in sec- ond with a clip of 19:39.
