Bringing smile* to both the Royrse Citian* and to the new Coach R. C Gibson are 13 returning lettermen. including no less than nine startersfrom the great '35 team.ALL LETTERMENCoach Gibson could throw an entire team of lettermen at Celeste Friday night when the Bulldogs open the 1956 campaign away from home, but a non-letter men nw break into the starting lineup at one end. Among the 13 numeral winners on hand are five first string All-District players and three second team choices. What more could any coach ask in his first season!That’s not the only good news around here though. All 21 boys out for the team have been going ot H with a will during fall practice. Coach Gibson says, They’re looking good. If they keep improving like they have been, they win some baH gamesThe squad has kept relatively free of the injury jinx this far. Although a few have been sidelined temporarily, all are back at drill* now except for Wayne Burger, who broke an ankle.*Jerry Red” ftollon leads a backfield that will rack up more than its share of points this season. The all-district backfield will work with quarterback Martin Harvey and halfback Danny Davison, both also all-district selections, and Clarence Nixon, halfback lettermen. Numeral winner Don Bumpas will be able to spell Harvey at the signal-calling duties. Hollon is the only big man, weighing in around 170. Harvey weighs about 145. Davidson 150,and Nixon 140.Two lettermen are back at end, second team all-district Wendell Brockawav and Bobby Crowell. Birth hit the scales around 160. But a 150-pounder who didn’t letter. Rudy Walker, may replace Crowell in the starting lineup Friday.OTHER PLAYERSGuard .« well set with three lettermen on hand, including 19-55 * 175-pound starter Thomas Gilliland, who rated second team alldistrict.
