Rocky Creek, Agricola, East Central and St. Johns of Gulfport.According to Coach Clapp, the Bulldogs may have lost some of the speed which helped them to a successful season last yearBy KEN ERNST Chronicle CorrespondentThe Vancleave Bulldogs open their 1963 football season tomorrow night when they play host to Pass Christian at 8 on their home gridiron.The Vancleave club coached by Robert Clapp will be attempting to get off on the right foot with a victory over the Coast visitors with an eye toward bettering their 6-3-1 record last season.The Bulldogs will be bolstered by the return of 10 letterman including four seniors. Senior let-termen include ends Gerald Car-lander (140) and David Cunningham (190'; tackle Leroy Rogers (177) and halfback Jim Cole (160).A non-senior letterman who will see much action this season wili be tackle James Mallette (177).Bulldog VeteransOther lettermen include All Singing River Conference center Nebo Carter (180) who has been switched to tackle; guards Mike Martin (135) and Albert Goss (152); end Wayne Davis (154); halfback David Lee Mohr (186) and fullback Steve Dyess (175).The Vancleave squad will be' playing their first year in the newly formed Pascagoula River Conference which includes OLV,but good all-round size throughout the squad this year should tend to give the Bulldogs additional advantages.Starting LineupStarters will probably be Douglas Holden (158) at center; Goss and Martin at guards; Carter and Rogers at tackles and Carlander and Cunningham at the ends.In the backfield Brill Fairley (127) will handle the quarterbacking with Cole and Mohr at the halfback slots and Dyess at fullback.Other games on the Vancleave slate are St. Martin on Sept. 20; East Central, Sept. 27; Rocky Creek, Oct. 4, all road games, Agricola at Vancleave, Oct. 11-State Line, Oct. 18; OLV, Oct 25; McLain, Nov. 1, all on the road, and St. John Nov. 15 at Vancleave.Mississippi Elks Plan Programfin Amprirnnicm
