(UP). Grover Cleveland Alexander kept his House of David team in the Southwestern Iowa tournament here Friday by appearing as relief pitcher and retiring the side with one pitched ball. The Davids were leading the Council Bluffs Athletics, 6 to 5, but there were men on third and first and the be-whiskered David hurler was weakening. Alex, who manages the team, jerked the hurler and, biting off a fresh chew of tobacco, strode to the mound, much as he did in the memorable world series deciding game when he wron immortal fame by downing the Yankees.Alex’s first offering w*as a wild pitch on which the man on first took second but the man on third was held safely.
