Chief Yeoman George R. Downs, advance recruiting clerk for Uncle Sam’snavy, will be at room 10, No. 129 South Cleveland avenue, this city, after 9 a m. daily until the navy recruiting office opens there from September 6 to 20, for the purpose of furnishing circulars and information to applicants who desire to enlist in Chief Yeoman Downs is provisional commander of the Army and Navy Union, and ail honorably discharged soldiers and sailors, regulars or volunteers, or those now in active service, who would like to become charter members of a garrison of the union to be organized In this city, can call at the navy recruiting office, or send their name and address.Athletics are much encouraged inthe navy, and the government furnishes free outfits for football, basebail, boxing, etc Coxswain Louis S. Brown, now on board the U. S. S.
