We had walked nil day through this Ideal deer country, and hud a couple of fair shots but missed. Starting toward camp in late afternoon, a fine two-point buck jumped up Just ahead of us and bounded down the hillside. My arrow was already nocked, so I raised the bow. drew the arrow until thejjbarbed point touched rny finger. , and let flv as the deer went flashing past a large cedar tree. There i was a sharp crack. Mister Buck turned several cartwheels in midair. and hit the ground. But—up he comes again and goes down the hill faster than ever. Jerry was several yards to one side and could see that my arrow hit the deer on the horns about six inches above the head, knocking him off balance, but not doing any great harm.♦ a aMl»(rr Burk must have had abig (hrtll nut of bring knorkjrd «»rr hy m little allrk, but nn greater than I did knocking him over.
