That was the day they won the Manitoba Little League “Bantam B” Baseball Championship, when defeating 1 Shoal Lake team on their own grounds by a score of 6-5 in the second game in a beet-of-three series. The local team, augmented by four players from Grandview, had previously taken the first game the same score of 6-5 in a rain soaked game played at Gilbert Plains last Wednesday.Tom Semchuk was Jie winning pitcher in both games, getting hii self out of trouble on numerous occasions by masterly ball control. As indicated by the scores, both the games were hard-fought, with very little to choose between the two teams. The calibre of play was exceedingly high and the boys are to be congratulated for the excellent showing they made. Of course, a great deal of credit is also due the two coaches, Brian Lynch and Mel Stoughton, whose time and ef forts were directly responsible for the boys’ achievementFollowing the game at Shoal Lake, at which a large number of local and Grandview fans were in attendance, the team was presented with the Manitoba Little League Trophy by the President from Rivers.innewpra.iumLes:ItfirsiizeGr*Aa ra Sale tion tion pun Awas195fwenFi hasinpure near on i Ba mon struimon lesso In item $100 $400 Finalspoil | W of tandtgueshinphy rive s ofGoing down the play-off trail to the Manitoba Final they had to dispose of Russell, Oak River and Holland, which they did in convinc-The team now journeys to Prince Albert this weekend to complete against teams from Saskatchewan,wenGrarcipal$200granSporWellM(alsoAlberta and British Columbia onLabour Day for the Western Can-1 ana Championship. ■Line-up—Rick Crosley, Tom Sem-:huk, Larry Stotski, Blaine Stoughton, Ken Sullk.
