Ball Player Will Meet Eddie Shannon of Elkhart in Fight.There has been a question raised by several papers in this vicinity as to the identity of Johnny O’Keefe, the Goshen pugilist, matched to fight Ed Shannon of Elkhart. The fighter in question is a baseball player who has been playing with the Syracuse and Goshen teams this year. He has been masquerading under the name of August Buxbaum, but his right name is Johnny O'Keefe and his home is in Chicago.His fight record in Chicago is a creditable one. l.ast year he had several hard bouts. He fought a six-round draw with Otto Sieloff, one of the best heavy lightweights of the country: defeated Stockings Kelly in fpur rounds and gave Mike Peoples his quietus in one round.The fight is scheduled to take place at Eppert’s Landing Sept. 7. The men will weigh in at about 140 pounds. The bout will be for a purse offered by some Syracuse and Wawasee sports and a good sized side bet.
