They concluded play at 1-5 in their conference and 0-5 in their districtGonzaga’s Tim Denniston scored the first goal of the match at 28 minutes into the first halt Travis Benware assisted on the goal.Gonzaga took a 2-0 lead 21 minutes into the second half when Jason Adams scored a goal assisted by Dave Owens.Whitman’s Chris Roberts narrowed the gap to 2-1 at the 35-minute mark of the second half on a goal assisted by Jon Christiansen.Gonzaga finished the scoring at 39 minutes into the second half on Denniston’s second goal, which was unassisted.In a season-ending team banquet, the Whitman players voted the season’s Most Valuable Player award to Luke Zilly.They voted the Most Inspirational Player award to defender Clark Youmans, a senior from Corvallis. The Most Improved Player award went to forward Hugh Thatcher, a sophomore from Salem, and the Rookie of the year award went to goalie Alexander Maksic, a freshman from Sun Valley, Idaho.
