Medium School Title Grabbed by CougarsWALES —* The Flyway Conference was well represented here Saturday in the WIAA State Cross Country Meet competition at Kettle Moraine’s 2.5 mile Nagawau-kee course.Flyway member Campbells-port, a' school in only its fourth year of cross country competition, took the title in the medium school class with 74 points, moving up from last fall’s fourth-place finish.Another Flyway member, Oakfield, furnished the third best runner individually in the small school meet The Oaks’ Steve Yantz ran third in 13:20.“I just couldn’t believe we had won,” CampbeUsport coach Jim Vollmer said after his school’s victory. He indicated that he thought defending champion Menomonee Falls North would again take “all the marbles.”However, North slipped to third place with 84 points behind CampbeUsport and Luxemburg-Casco, which had 81 points. Baraboo’s A! f Nelson was the individual winner m 12:58.8.Team balance again paid off for CampbeUsport, whichpreviously had won regional and sectional titles.
