CEDAR LAKE’S GIANT RASSLER IS CONFIDENTRoche and Marrs Scheduled For Main Go but Fans Don’t MindClean living and youth are expected to collect heavy rewards tonight in the Hammond Civic Center when Ambrose (Am) Rascher, the sapling oak from Cedar Lake, tangles in a feature rassling bout with Chief Tom Marvin, the venerable Indian who parlayed “dirty tactics with a Cherokee scowl to collect considerable folding money on the western cauliflower circuit.Rascher is a religious trainer who runs his own deforestation campaign around Cedar Lake. Am thinks nothing of slashing a hundred juvenile trees per day and likes to work out for half an hour before each bout.Chief Marvin is believed to be superior in skill and experience and will be hard to beat if Referee Dick Patton doesn’t interfere when Marvin applies his famous “Indian death lock.”Marvin and Rascher are billed as semi-windup performers but their 60 minute bout overshadows the varsity bout involving Dorv Roche, the reformed coal miner, and Johnny Marrs, a Portland, Ore., toughie who plans to trade blocks and tackles with the sawed off Illinois heavyweight.Roche is a spectacular performer who has made hundreds of friends with his pattern of constant action. Dorv will be a 2 to 1 favorite over Marrs, who is reported to have championship ambitions but is shy on the necessary experience.Fleming vs. Mueller.Lloyd Fleming, the bus driving rassler, is expected to continue his winning streak against one Henry Mueller of South Chicago in the preliminary bout. Lloyd’s spectacular performances have caused an addition to an ancient saying concerning sure things. Now it reads: “Death, taxes and a Fleming victory.”There is a strong possibility that four or five more Fleming triumphs will lead to a match with Hassen Ahmed, the Whiting Turk ’ who also boasts a perfect record in Civic Center bouts.Ladies who accompany ringside seat purchasers will be admitted free to tonight’s show, it was announced by Director A. B. Scott. Preliminaries are slated for 8:30 . with the Rascher-Marvin bout expected at 9:15. A local radio station will broadcast happenings from 10 o’clock on.
