Thirteen-point fourth keys Swett winDennis PillionStaff writer ~ ” —PEMBROKE — The Purnell Swett Rams came back from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat the Pine Forest Trojans 20-17 for their second conference win.Tommie Locklear keyed the fourth-quarter rally for Purnell Swett, breaking loose for an 18-yard touchdown run on fourth and 4 early in the fourth quarter. Locklear had 99 of his game-high 112 rushing yards in the second half.After the Rams defense forced Pine Forest to punt, Locklear struckagain, this time on a 60-yard run to .. give Purnell Swett the lead. .. Locklear's extra point attempt was blocked, but the Rams defense held firm.Justin Dial intercepted a tipped pass from Pine Forest quarterback Keith Parker to give the Rams the ball back with 6:22 left in the game.Purnell Swett ran the ball to try to use up the clock, but was forced to punt with 3:46 remaining.After Parker's fourth-and-17 pass fell incomplete, the Rams knelt on the ball to run out the clock, and Rams coach Russell Stone got an early Gatorade shower.Our defense is really beginning to play some good football^' Stone said.
