USAFE harriers second in Air Force meetFORT BRAGG, N«C. — Rhdn-Main's Robert Linzmeicr look the Men’s Senior Division title as USAFE runners Finished second behind Military Airlift Comd in the Air Force Cross-Country Championships T uesday.Military Airlift Comd won the team title with 58 points, seven less than USAFE in the law-score-wins scoring.Linzmeicr gave USAFE its only individual crown with a 33-minute, 31-second victory for 10 kilometers in the 30-39-year division- Wiesbaden's Bob Bergen took fourth place in 34:34,Bret Hyde of Air Force Systems Comd won the Men's Open, clocking 31:23 for lO-kilomwers. USAFE runners placed fourth and fifth with Mark Witteveen of Wiesbaden (32:41) edging out Warren Thompson of AJconbury, England, (32:44).The top seven men's times qualified for the Air Force team in the Armed Forces mecLAnother Wiesbaden runner, Tom Waldrop came within 4 seconds of winningthe Men's Masters (40 and over) Division. Waldrop was timed in 35:19 and finished runner-up to a 35:15 by Jack Sorenberger of Pacific Air Force (PACAF). Tommy Roberts, also from Wiesbaden, placed fifth in the Masters witha37:S7 time.JoAnn Rodefcr of UNICOM, clocked the fastest time for the women’s 5-kilometer race, winning the Seniors Division (30-39) in 19:49.USAFE champ Katherine Dowling of Uxbridge, England, finished right behindRodefcr with a Seniors time of 19:56. Uxbridge's time ranked among the top five overall and qualifies her for the Air Force women’s team.Kim Ritchie of Air Training Comd won the Women’s Open in 19:11.Other top women finishers from USAFE included Betty Albritton of Florcnnes, Belgium; Amy Bouchard of Bitburg, Germany, and Marcella Knapp or Torrcjon, Spain. Albritton was limed in 20:52 for fifth place in the Seniors race. Bouchard (20:57) ptaccd seventh and Knapp (21:53) iOth in the Open Division.
