Only twice in ten games has the senior All-Midwest goalie allowed more than a single goal to enter the nets.Only eight minutes remained in the game when Freshman forward Jack McNaughton scored the only marker of the game to give the Big Red the win.(Continued from Page 1)1971 BLUE ACESFootball ScheduleGHS 25 Millersport 28GHS15 JOHNSTOWN 12 | GHS35 HEATH 18GHS 7 Tri-Valley 20GHS13 LAKEWOOD 10 I GHS 13 WATKINS MEM O GHS 9 LICKING HTS. 0Oct. 29.....Licking ValleyNov. 5...........at Utica INov. 12........Northridge^Then with 5:56 remaining, Fel-umlee scampered the final fouryards for GHS’ lone touchdown. The PAT failing after a five yardpenalty for illegal procedure.Beginning the fourth quarter Licking Heights was on the come-back trail at the Granville 30, after two imcomplete pass attempts by Girkins, a 27 yard punt return by senior running-back C alvin Gore, and an un-sportsman-like conduct penalty called against Granville. There the Hornet drive ended. After a Mark Bowman fumble and four incomplete passes by Jones, the Aces proceeded to eat up the remaining five minutes of play on the ground.Over all, the statistics read much the same for both teams as Granville pounded out 187yards, to the Hornets 1X1. Quarterback Keith Jones tired tor 50%, 7 completing in 14 passes, all seven going to senior co-captain Dan Shull for 58yards.Following the Hornets’ classy Chambers, who ripped GHS line and secondary for 167 yards, leading ground gainers for Granville were Mark Bowman with 63 yards on 15 attempts, Felumlee, 39 yards in ten trips, and Smith carrying nine times for 48 yards, Girkins air effort showed only 19 yards in 4 of 13 attempts,(31%).Friday’s date with the Panthers of Licking Valley is the LCL game of the week, if not the season-after a Heath 16-16 tie at Valley last week. The Panthers, with each game add to their pre-season “dark horse” role. After ten years in the LCL cellar, they’d like to be the team to lower the big Blue Ace machine(Paid Political Advertising)the game on the Hornet six yard line, and from then on, it was Chambers night at Licking Heights.Thirteen plays and 76 yards later, Heights was stopped again on downs as Lee Bowman stormed in from his end post, to block the Hornets’ only serious scoring threat of the night, a 19-yard field goal attempt that ended in the waiting arms of Granville's John Hupp, with 1.09 remaining in the first quarter.Four plays later following a Granville fourth and ten situation, Licking Heights was back in command on a 40 yard sprint by Chambers when quarterback Keith Jones fumbled a second time to Bowman on the GHS 38, setting up the first Granville score of the game. Fight plays later, with fourth and five Dave Piper booted a 23 yard fieldgoal, to put the Aces in front3-0.Opening the second half, Piper’s kick-off sailed to the Hornet 15, from where fullback Guy Chambers (who else) rambled 1 7 yards to the Hornet 32, breaking five tackles along his way and there, Lee Bowman called a questionable 15 yard face-mask penalty that moved the ball tothe LH 47.Two plays later, Chambers fumbled to the Blue Ace defense, setting up Granville’s longest drive, one marked by five successive first-downs.Felumlee TDWith eleven minutes left in the quarter, Felumlee carried for nine yards into Hornet territory, where quarterback Kim Girkins, handed-off to Smith for 9 yards. Mark Bowman added seven more, Piper six, and Felumlee on three carries for a big 17 yards.iPuiil Pnlitiral Advertisingfrom the league’s undefeated ranks, climb into the first place nest with GHS and Lakewood.Score bv Quarters1234FGHS03609LH00000Scoring SummarySecond Quarter Granville: Field Goal, Piper.23-yds.
