Carthage shows a better record with additional victories. Lamar, on the other hand, dropped its opener to Picher, Okla. and was tied, 19-19. by Pierce City, a powerful and undefeated opponent from the tricounty league.On defense, Carthage has shown itself the better team, yielding pnly 29 points all season. In 'four conference games, Lamar has surrendered 25. The reverse is true on offense, Lamar piling up 121 points in its four conference battles and Carthage 73. After a slow start, Carthage seemed to have found its scoring stride against Neosho (27 to 7) and Nevada (25 to 13) in its last two loop games. As a convincer, it steamrollered ’Girard, Kan. last week - end, 52 to 0.Nevada, which still has Lamar to meet, will have a battle on its hands before that, meeting Webb City which until last week - end was in contention.
