NEOSHO WILDCATS TAKE LEAD IN BIG 8CONFERENCE WITH WIN OVER LAMAR“tr“brAURORA ELIMINATEDBY WEBB CITY; CAR-THAGE, MONETT TIEPaced by Jack Hadley, the Neosho Wildcats romped over Lamar here last night at the high school stadium, 31-0.Keeping the Lamar team mfiieless throughout the entire *me, the Neosho first, second, third and fourth string outplayed, outran and outscorcd them in every quarter. The first quarter saw the two teams fighting furiously. Lamar making one first down and Neosho making two first downs, neither scoring. Hadley, quarterback, was in on every play, running through and around the Lamar line for both first downs for Neosho.Hadley received for Neosho in the second quarter, running from the 44-yard line to the 24-yard line, making a first down for Neosho. Both teams received penalties in the second quarter; Lamar ten yards for off sides, Neosho five yards for holding. Breaking the ice for the first touchdown of the game, Hadley passed 11 yards to Green who received the pass standing up behind the goal line. Renick, injured player who was forced to sit out the game, was brought in to make the place kick, which was good, leaving the score 7-0, Neosho. Hadley then kicked to Lamar’s 21-yard line, Lamar struggling up to the 35-yard line when Cain, who was captain for the night, intercepted a pass, running the ball on up to the 38-yard line. In the next play, Hadley ran it up to the 2-yard line where he fumbled, Bar-barick of Neosho recovering to go over for the second touchdown. Renick was again brought in for the kick, which was no good, the score standing at 13--0. Hadley kicked to Lamar, Perkins receiving the ball and running it to the 37-yard line where he was tackled by Hadley Lamar received a 15-yard penalty for clipping and kicked to Neosho to the 30-yard line where Hadley received the ball, running it up to the 44-yard line for a first down. In the last few minutes of the second quarter, Hadley again passed to Green who scored again for Neosho. The run for goal was no good, leaving the score at the half 19-0.Lamar kicked off to Neosho, Bob irk receiving the ball on thv^$-yard line, and running the wli to the 48-yard line. In the next play Christian ran to the 40-yard stripe on a plunge. After trying an incomplete pguss from Hadley to Anderson, Hadley kicked to Lamar’s J30. Christian, right half, intercepted a pass on his own 23 y£rdline, making a spectacular run of 77 yards for a touchdown. The run for goal was stopped.In the last quarter Rudd, right guard, recovered the ball on a Lamar fumble on the 46-vard line. Hadley then passed from the center marker to Harmon, left half, who ran 40 yards to ihe 10-yard line to receive the pass, completing the other ten yards for the last touchdown of the game. Green’s kick for the extra point failed. Removing all his first squad, Coach Pierce sent in all second, thirdand fourth string men to fin- !ish out the game. Barbarick and Cain, tackles, were on hand throughout the whole game; Hadley was outstanding in his position as quarterback; Green, substituting for Renick, played almost the entire game and scored 12 of Neosho’s points. Swede Anderson was holding up the back-field, and was responsible for a majority of the tackles, sparking the whole team into action. Not one man laid down on the job in last night’s game. Jim Harmon, who substituted for left half, made his first touchdown. playing the majority of the game.Aurora lost to Webb City last night 27-14, and Carthage and Monett battled to a 6-6 tie, leaving the Wildcats in top position in the Big Eight conference.
