Murphy, the veteran, had the science, while Clabby. fche youngster, hud the I ruggedness. Six round* of the best inill-lag seen In Indianapolis for some time I Wfie nut on by the two men. !The first round was all In Murphy 0 favor, his quick. straight lefts and short» right chops causing Clabby'» head to snap bach and forth In rapid-fire order. The second .round saw Clabby Improving, «l* , though Murphy gained the honors by a wide margin. Toward the clone of the period Clabby adopted Murphy s style or lt;milling and scored frequently with lefts to tlie face. Jimmy Clabby. chief second t for bin brother, stlpped a hug In Reward's ear after the second round and a wonderful brace wns taken by the latter In the third round. At the (lose of the round both boxers were fighting at a terrific puce and each went to htg corner with a cut mouth. Murphy's race was noticeably bruised and he seomed to bg tiring, ft was Clnbbv's round.Clabby went after Murphy like a whlrj-wtnd In the fourth round and had the advantage. Murphy lost most of his-steam while Clabby bored In with the, aggres-«1 venose of a bulldog. The fifth round wus spectacular and grueling The bOys , put their heads together and slugged in I a most bruising manner. Murphy s face | was bruised and bleeding, but he returned 1 a punch for each received and ref used to give ground.More slugging occurred In the sixth and last round, with neither fighter having the advantage. Clabby was the ( stronger at the finish, but Murphy had scored an equal number of blows and was entitled to an even break.The piellintnmlos wero both good and bad. Jimmy Dalton and Bobby Ash opened the show and a draw resulted. The second bout was a comedy affair, with, Harry Lewis and Young Rosen M the* actors. In the second round * Rosen j hooked Lewis on the Jaw and down went Lewis. Tommy Dillon had un easy time with Teddy Gavin tn the third preliminary. DiUon came out of the bout unmarked, but had been unable to score a knockout.A good draw resulted In the second best card of the evening. Jimmy Anderson of local fame met Jimmy Murphy of Chicago and a neat battle took place. The visitor had the first and fifth rounds and Anderson the third and fourth. The second and last.were even.
