AH but Chaparro and Robeau are freshman; thelatter are juniors,“It’s a voune team. Leechadmitted, but one of the best things about that is the fact that there’s a great opportunity to build.Leech noted that UMHB was already a member of the Big State Conference, as well as the NAIA.And what was the easiest part about forming a basketball team from ground up?“Scheduling,'’ Leechchuckled. “Every team in theconference wanted to play thenew kid on the block.***Among the teams the UMHB Crusaders will be facing in the conference are East Texas Baptist College, Houston-Tillotson College, Southwestern University, St. Edward's University, St. Mary's University, and Texas Lutheran College.Leech guaranteed standing room only for our games, sincethe fivm at UMHB currently hasonly one section of bleachers.Although this is his first season as coach, and he is beginning with a brand-new team, Leech announced recently that he is expecting a winning season.Now, when I say vvinning,” he went on. 1 mean along the lines of 16-15. 1 think that’s reasonable, and it’s something I'm looking forward to. 1 think our men can do it.I think our opponents will be looking for a green, disorganized team, and they won’t find it.
