However, the score of 10 to 2 is no index of the comparative playing abilities of the two teams for either side is.credited with an equal number of errors and there was no well defined difference in the individual playing. Cincinnati won because of her excellent team work. The steadiness and good judgment of the players at critical times bore evidence of a long season of continuous playing.Long Bob Ewing, who has proved anunsolved puzzle to many big strikers of national fame, was in the box for the Reds and handed out his best assortment of ice-coated spit bails to the bewildered Osgood batters. Ewing Jwas in his best form and pitched the same quality of ball that has made him famous in the big league circles. His support was not perfect but was good enough to keep the Osgood boys at a safe distance from the home plate ex-oept in the eighth inning when a combination of mis plays allowed the home team its only two scores.Charles Pruiett, the Osgood slab irtist, was no easy proposition for the ffceds. He not only struck out six of heir heavy hitters but kept their ileven hits scattered and had his sup-►orfc been better in the first and ono or two other innings he would have materially reduced the run getting of the Cincinnati representation, Cy Seymour, the best batter of them all, could not get but one single off his delivery jut like the rest of the team his unsteadiness was at the most critical bimes and the big score of the Reds Is the consequence.
