Hockey squabblemay be cooled offOTTAWA ian - A long, simmering squabble between the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association 1CAHA1 and Hockey Canada, which erupted in public a couple o! weeks ago, may be cooled off this week.Hockey Canada, the federally supported agency which governs Canada's international hockey dealings, has meetings scheduled tor Toronto on Tuesday and Wednesday, ar.d hotkey observers are hoping difficulties between the two organizations can be settled.the meetings also may produce acceptance ot a blueprint for assembling an amateur team to represpnt Canada in the 1080 Olympic Games in Lake Placid. iS'.Y.Discussions about an Olympic team have been under way for about J8 months. Father David Hauer, former national team coach, warned recently that unless a decision is made soon, there will be no chance of icing a lespeclabic team in 1980.At a special Commons-Senale committee studying international hockey. Hockey Canada chairman Douglas Fisher and Alan Fagleson. head of Hockey Canada’sinternational committee, blash'd the CAHA for undermining the organization.They called on the CAHA to withdraw from international liuckcv dealings and concentrate on domestic hockey problems. The CAHA should turn over its seat on the council of the International lee Hockey Federation ilIHFi to Hockey Canada, they saidGordon Rcnwkk, t he* new CAHA president, denied the undermining charges, saying the CAHA always has cooperated with Hockey Canada. He said Sport Mimslui Iona Campagnolo should force Fisher to resign from Hockey Canada because of his attack on the CAHA. which is a member of Hockey CanadaTalks with officials and observers indicate the two factious have been told to settle their differences in ji/ivate.Campagnolo is awaiting the report of the Commons-Senate committee before deciding whether to intervene directly m the dispute.
