Only once during the entire game was the ball within Moulton’s 20 yard line, and then only long enough for a man to run over the goal line, (with the ball of course). The most outstanding player for Moulton’s eleven, by a great margin was Junior Stansberry. Of the 271 yards gained by Moulton Junior gained 133 of them, almost half of the total yardage gained. Junior’s average per run was 19 yards, which was the best to be shown so far this year. Clinton Spurgeon was also an outstanding back-fielder, with the average of 7 yards gained per run. The line showed much better results.Moulton Scores in 1st QuarterIn the very early minutes of the game, after Ottumwa kicked, Moulton scored. The ball was received on the 20-yard line. Moulton made several first downs, and moved to Ottumwa’s 33 yard line. The ball was given to Jr. Stansberry, who marched over the goal line, with little trouble at all. The effort put forth for the extra point was done by Francis Davis, but it was not complete. So the the score stands 6-0, Moulton.Ottumwa Scores In Second QuarterThe second period opened with the ball in possession of Ottumwa, who didn’t do much while they had the ball. They punted for safety. Moulton also observed the safety rule and punted back. The opponents mad? several first downs to advance tc Moulton’s 35 yard line. Throughout this quarter Ottumwa tried several passes, trying desperately to score. On the touchdown play one man went down for a pass. The Ottumwa man caught it and with no one between him and the goal, made the touchdown. The extra point was no good, making the score 6 to 6 at the half.History was made in the second half of the Iowa-Indiana game, but not in the Moulton-Ottumwa game. Nothing happened this quarter, of any importance, except Moulton advanced into the opponent’s grounds, just as the quarter ended, so they controlled the ball, when the 4th quarter opened. The last quarter of the game, as usual showed the most excitement. The entire quarter was played all within 30 yards of Ottumwa’s goal, and Moulton had the ball all the time except one and a half minutes. Three passes were attempted in this quarter by Moulton. All very close, but none were completed.Moulton carried the ball to the five yard line, but fumbled, and Ottumwa recovered. They punted back, it was received on the 30 yard line and run back to the 9 yard line. The ball was given to Ottumwa, on the fourth down, but there was only time for three plays and Moulton held them to very little gain. The game ended with the score of 6-6.Although the Moulton boy’s did not win, they played by far the best game, and in our own minds we know that our team was much the best.Moulton plays Humeston next Friday, October 25. Come out and support the home team. It’ll be a good game.Wiwasnesd“HerquesW.
