Neosho Dally NewsLamar Moves Into Tie With Carthage TigersLAMAR - (SpoclnI) - Lamar’s powerhouse advanced to even terms with Carthage in the Big Nine Conference race Friday nightwhen It rolled to its fourth straight victory In a game against cellar-dwelling Mount Vernon, 45 to 15.The Tigers with Kenny Simmons leading the way with four touchdowns were too much for a weak Mount Vernon eleven which has managed to score only 19 points in live conference games.Ronnie Means opened the evening’s scoring in the first period when he recovered one of histenmmater own fumbles and ran 15 yards. Simmons added the extra point.In the second period, Simmons countered twice and his outburst was followed by an 80-yard scoring run bv John Dermott, L*amar quarterback. The same two player* finished the scoring in the final period, each with a touchdown while Mount Vernon’s Burlison was adding one. The visitors scored itsprevious touchdown in the secondwith Walker going over.
