I AUSTRALIA PUTS BAN ! ON JACK JOHNSON.A Proposition For Two Fightff In Australia Is Withdrawn Because of His Disgusting Escapades.[By International News Sarvlre.lChicago, Oct. 21.—Hugh McIntosh,( the Australian fight promoter, who• has been angling for Jack Jonhson’s signature to a contract for two fights in the Antipodes, to be worth $50,-• 000, today cabled his agent, W. J. C. Kelly, to cancel the proposition and return home.1 McIntosh explained that Johnson’s action and escapades have so angered the sporting public of Australia that his presence on the little continent is not desired in any role, much less in that of a ringster. Kelly has been in America for several months trying to obtain Johnson’s consent. He dropped all negotiations immediately upon receiving the order from his principal.Had there not been a hitch over the stakeholder, Johnson might have had $5,000 expense money in his hands now and a contract for the two battles. McIntosh objected to having a Chicagoan as holder for the $10,000 forfeit that he agreed to place to guarantee the purse for the champion.Johnson was sought for a fight with Sam Langford on December 26, ‘Australian boxing day, and a bout with Sam McVey at a later date.'Johnson now has few places left to obtain fights. The battle with Flynn practically eliminated him from the United States and when the New York boxing commission placed a ban on him, America’s last opening was closed. Coast promoters have not sougfit him of late.
