The Some pack included Julie Stiles (12:56.6) and Cheryl Kane (12:56.6).Lori Dicks and Acacia Carreon followed the pack of Vikings for Thornwood, but could not break them up.The battle for the boys title wasnip-and-tuck the whole way, butin the end, the Vikings placing in the top 15 made the difference.Smolinski (15:59.5) and Victor Johnson (16:21.1) ran outstanding races for the T-Birds. The one-two combination set a healthy pace for the rest of the runners tofollow.“I knew the toughest competition would be with Hudson and he starts out fast,” Smolinski said. “I had to go out fast and get ahead of him. And Victor did a great job. He is one tough kid with a great attitude.”When it came right down to it though, the top two were not enough to get the edge over theVikings. H-F scored 39, while Thornwood ended with 43, Thornton 52 and Thomridge 100.Keith Durkin, Mike Opalinski and Geoff Dauksas finished fourth, eighth and 10th, respectively, to take the crown.
