The other black athletes have minds of their own and what they will do I don’t know.”Smith, a native of San Jose, Calif., and bronze medalist John Carlos each wore one black glove, black scarf and black socks to receive their awards. They extended their gloved hands in the air while the National Anthem was played.Smith explained his actions this way:“The glove on my right hand signified power within black America.
