Protest Signing Teen-age PlayersFort William, Oct. 17. (CP) —Protest against ftecn-aged boysbeing offered employment in thenew Pacific Coast Hockey league was filed Monday with Frank Sargent, president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey association.TJic protest was from the Saskatchewan branch of the association, Mr. Sargent said,•‘Flic C.A.K.A, has not been officially notified as to the classification of this new league, Sargent said. One report said it was to be semi-pro.“1 contacted Dr. W. G. Hardy, Edmonlozt, president of the International Ice Hockey association, to ascertain whether the league was affiliated with the Amateur Koekcy-assoeiation of the United States.”Dr. Ilardy understood the league was to be a branch of the A.H.A. of U.S.“If this be true, under the A.H.A. of U.S.-C A.H.A. agreement cnlyj one juvenile can ask to be trans-j ferred from any C.A.H A. club to any club in the A.H.A. of U.S.“Players anticipating moving to the new league should first of all make certain that they are eligible for transfer, Should they ignore transfer regulations they may find themselves suspended from organized hockey.“This would bar players from theTOLL. and minor pro leagues, the A.H.A. of U.S. and the C.A.HA.The proper procedure for players to negotiate for a transfer is to have the American club they intend going to apply to P. Oct. 17. tAPj—Jimmie Ward, manager of a Portland entrant in the new Pacific Coast Hockey league, said Monday the six teen-age Canadian hockey players he has hired all have their releases tram their 1943 club and that he was applying to the secretary of the Amateur Hockey association of the United States for their transfers to his club.Ward said the coast circuit was affiliated with the A.H.A. of U.S. and regulations of that body applied to the coast league.The six players, he said, were members of last year's Ken ora, Ont... club, which has no junior hockey this year.
