Qarcia Looks Qood As He Prepares For Wednesday’s BattleConfident as in the days two years when he was the uncrowned king of the Laredo ring, Carlos Garcia, still the idol of many Laredo ring followers, went through his initial workout here yesterday afternoon at the post gym preparing for his ten round battle at the Post bowl Wednesdaynight against Joe Ruz, clever light-weight from Yucatan. Cecil Lozadawho is featured on the other ten round bout of the double main event attraction against Tello Chico, followed Garcia and both boys looked in fine condition and ready for the opening bell.Watching Garcia step through shadow-boxing, punch the bag and work several rounds with sparring partners left little doubt that the Prince” has lost none of his speed in the past two years. He mauled his partners up fierce outbursts that repeatedly put them into reverse and if anything Garcia packs a harder punch than when he was fighting here regular before.Garcia seems to be paying particular attention to his legs and wind. In Ruz he is meeting a boy that is rated to be equally as fast as himself and the bout will be one that calls for ample endurance. Using light, fast boys for sparring partners he handled himself well and looked good on defense.Ruz is slated to arrive here Tuesday from Monterrey where he has been working out for the bout and will go through his'- final workout for the bout here. He is rated a hard puncher by promoters and aggressiveness is his main asset. Reports from Monterrey where he has fought all his recent fights indicate he will give Garcia one of the hardest battles he has fought in several months.Tel Jo Chico was signed to meet Lozada on the first ten round bout of the card. Lozada, who incidentally holds a decision over Garcia, has been coming fast since going to San Antonio. He recently took a decision from Charlie Roxgue, Galveston favorite and also holds wins over Ace King, Bridgeport, Conn., Lou Navarro of Tampa and Snooks Campbell of Pa and Ma Stribling’s stables. He also beat Jackie Hughes, pride of Oklahoma City and is slated for a bout with David Shapiro who recently beat Garcia in GalvestonA strong supporting card for the two main goes is being worked up by promoters who are promising fa.13 one of the fastest cards presented here in weeks.
