Sentinel runners beat Bruins twiceMissoula Sentinel had the individual winner and also took team honors in both ends of a dual cross country meet held Thursday afternoon on the windswept Bill Roberts Municipal Golf Course.The Sentinel boys took four of the top five places to post a 24-33 victory while the girls took four of the top six places for a 22-33 triumph.Bart Holt led the Sentinel boys to victory by winning the race in 16:21.78 and teammate Kyle Hendricks followed him to the finish line. John Sodja of Capital came in third, less than eight seconds behind the winner, but the Spartans took the next two places. A pair of Capital sophomores. Chuck Fred and Doug Burner, finished sixth and seventh.Defending state champion Laurie Holm, only a sophomore, won the girls race for the Spartans with a time of 12:05.83 despite running with a bad leg. Capital's Vicki Fred challenged Holm most of the way but dropped back at the finish to take second in 12:16. Jackie Higgins was the only other Bruin to crack the top six places, taking fifth in 13:35.The Capital boys JV team posted a perfect score to win 15-51. The Bruins not only picked off the first five places, but had seven of the first eight finishers. Jeff Capps won the race with a time of 16:46.73 and trailing, in order, were Mark Johnke, Jeff TTiomas, Brian Wohlberg and Bill Getz.GIRLS Sentinel 22, Capital 331. Laurie Holm (S), 12:05.03 ; 2.
