Finally, the Lancers were iorced to punt. Pat Harper broke through the line to block the kick and Jack Ross recovered the ball on South’s 12-yard line. Mark Dufner then swept around end for the touchdown, but the kick for the point failed. Western led, 6-0.Neither team threatened seriously during the remainder of the half.Western rolled strongly in the third quarter. Passes from Fred Waits to Mac Woodward and Pat Harper and runs by Dufner reached South’s 29. Waits then fired to Woodward for the second touchdown, and again he hit Woodwar'd with a pass for the extra point. The Raiders were ahead,13-0.The Lancers rallied and runs by Smitt and Steinbrucck took the oval deep into W.M.A. territory, but the big Raider line dug in and preventeda score.*Waits Passes For T.D.The cadets tallied again soon after the fourth period began. The drive ended when Waits passed 16 yards to Harper for the T.D., and Rick Williams kicked the extra point to make the cadet total 20.Then the Lancers began their march. Passes by Bill Eisenloeffel to Paul Schmidt and Roger Steinbrucck and runs by Ted Greenwald reached Western’s 12. Steinbrucck slipped through the right side to score, and Mike Heflin kicked the extra point.A little later Greenwald recovered a Western fumble and returned the ball 20 yards to the Raider 40. A pass, Eisenloeffel to Schmidt, and, a run-ning plays by Steinbrucck ate up the distance for a touchdown. Heflin s kick failed, and the game ended, 20-13.
